Narrow the list to the work in front of you
Focus mode filters your issue list down to your assigned, active work and groups it into sections. Instead of scanning everything, you see what you are doing now and what is up next. It is a toggle in the popover, so you can switch between the focused view and the full list whenever you want.
What does Focus mode do?
- Filters the issue list to your assigned and active work.
- Groups the focused issues into sections so the view has structure.
- Toggles on and off from the popover, so the full list is always one click away.
- Helps you work down what matters now without the whole backlog in view.
How it works
- 1
Open the popover
Click the menu bar icon to open your issue list, or press the global shortcut to summon it from another app.
- 2
Toggle focus mode
Turn focus mode on. The list narrows to your active, assigned work and reorganizes into sections.
- 3
Work the sections
Move through what you are doing now and what is up next. Toggle focus mode off to return to the full list.
Focus mode FAQ
What does focus mode actually filter?
Focus mode narrows your issue list to the work that is assigned to you and currently active, then groups it into sections so it reads as a plan rather than a flat list. The point is to remove the noise of everything in your workspace and leave the handful of issues you are meant to be moving. It is a lens over your existing issues, so nothing is hidden permanently. Toggle it off and the full list comes straight back.
How do I turn focus mode on or off?
Focus mode is a toggle inside the TimeToBuild popover. Open the popover from the menu bar, switch the toggle on, and the list reorganizes into its focused, sectioned form. Switch it off and you are back to the complete list. Because it is a toggle rather than a separate mode you have to set up, you can flip between the two views as often as you like depending on whether you are planning or triaging.
Does focus mode change my issues in Linear?
No. Focus mode only changes how TimeToBuild displays your issues. It filters and groups them for the current view, but it does not edit statuses, assignees, or anything else in Linear. Your workspace is untouched. This makes it safe to toggle freely, since the worst case is simply a different arrangement of the same issues on your own screen.
